In which we welcome you to The Octopus Society of Evil Authors and describe our vision.

Welcome! Do come in, sit down, make yourself comfortable. Have some tea, or coffee if you prefer.

There, now that we’re all settled and civil, do allow me to introduce myself. I’m GeGi, one of your host authors, and will be the most frequent contributor to the blog. With me is my co-conspirator, endever*, who looks after the Tumblr and a lot of the Twitter content. We’re both so pleased you made the time to meet us, and do hope you’ll spend quite a bit of time visiting us in the future. Learn more about us in the About section.

Creating an official presence for The Octopus Society of Evil Authors (the correct abbreviation is OSEA) has long been a dream of ours. Between ourselves OSEA has been a constant source of encouragement and fun since inception, and we’d be remiss if we’d kept the enjoyment of such a delightful concept from others. Explore, poke around, ask questions… We welcome involvement and participation.

Our vision thus far for the blog is to be a place of various mixed content of writerly interest, all cross-posted to the Twitter and Tumblr. We’ll cover such topics as writing process and evolution of drafts, problems and issues and hopefully corresponding solutions and ideas, current works in progress, participation in NaNo events, writing prompts, recommendations and reviews, and whatever else inspires us — all with a writer focus, of course.

The Tumblr is planned to be a mix of the cross-posts, and reblogs of other writerly things found on Tumblr; prompts, editing advice, quotes, and so forth.

The Twitter will be all that, plus writerly-related hashtag conversations, and so on.

And, naturally, there will be the occasional octopus

That’s all we have to say for the moment. We’re quite busy creating more content to go up soon, and hopefully we shall have regular updates once everything is sufficiently settled. We’re also in the midst of preparing for Camp NaNo in April, more about which I’ll write in the next post.

In the meantime, we encourage you to start or join in a conversation in the comments, or get in touch with us through our various social media. Introduce yourself, and let us know what topics you’d like to see covered, or what writing challenges you’re facing that you’d like feedback or sympathy about — we’re evil, but we’re also very sympathetic to writer problems!
